The French Revolution (1789-99) was a mass upheaval of social and political laws and oppression, mainly by its citizens. France fought against many countries and republics including Belgium, Helvetic Republic (Switzerland), Germany, and Britain.

Britain[]

The French rebelled against the British in 1789 in an attempt to gain independence. The war also played an important role in the young United States (depicted in "Cabinet Battle #2", which was still working on financial stability. Marquis de Lafayette, one of the most important generals to the French army and vital to their successes, had previously aided the U.S. tremendously in their own fight for independence against the British, in which Alexander Hamilton had promised Lafayette help in the French Revolution. Though when it came down to decide, Hamilton opted out of his oath and chose not to help, much to the dismay of Thomas Jefferson who was not willing to go back on the nation's promise.
